Progressive Life Center, Ghana LTD

PLC-Ghana opened in the later part of FY 2001 and is providing mental health services in the Greater Accra Region. We offer a range of psychological services including: Individual Counseling and Psychotherapy for anxiety disorders, depression, and stress management; psychological testing and assessment for academic and learning disabilities and personality and cognitive issues; marital and relationship counseling; and substance abuse treatment. The office is managed by Dr. Samuel Danquah who is also the Director of the Post-Graduate Programme, Department of Psychology at the University of Ghana at Legon.

Progressive Life Society (Ghana)

The Progressive Life Society Ghana (PLSG) has received a seed grant from the government of Ghana to support start up of an initiative to strengthen and consolidate Ghana’s NGO sector.

 

  • The first stage is working from information maintained in the Registrar General’s Office to identify, categorize, and document all NGOs currently registered and functioning in Ghana and to develop a user-friendly database of the collected information.

  • The second stage will evaluate and verify the organizational, administrative, and programmatic systems and activities of each of the identified NGOs and implement an accreditation process for the NGO sector.

  • The third stage will develop an advocacy component to help NGOs network, collaborate and improve perceptions about their activities while developing mechanisms to allow them a voice in policy development.

  • The final stage will develop a regional technical assistance system by building the capacity of select NGOs to function a centers of excellence to provide a technical assistance and advocacy support resource for the nation’s NGOs.
